I love grazed knees and bruises. I want a model to scuff her knees up for me whilst wearing tights so I can photograph them, any volunteers?

I had an exciting email this morning, the details of which I am not allowed to share until this time next week. Then I left the house to go get my roots done (for an equally exciting ambition-fulflling shoot tomorrow). After getting home via the most roundabout, time consuming way possible due to snow cancelled trains, I found in my inbox yet another exciting email - the details of which I am allowed to share already. So all in all you could say it's been a pretty excitement filled day.
I'm on the cover of Emma Delves-Broughton's second book "Kinky Nature". It's released sometime in the next few months but is already available for preorder on Amazon (HERE!). It's quite a big deal for me as Emma's first book "Kinky Couture" is a classic in the world of fetish photography books and one of the first I ever read (where read = drooled at latex clad girl pics) years before I even started modelling.
The image was actually shot over 3 years ago, not long before I changed my hair from bright red to orange I think. I don't think it's ever been posted anywhere before though!

I'm pretty sure I have quite a few images inside the book too as I did sooo much work with Emma in the gorgeous woodlands around Bath. Will have to wait till it comes out to see though! Until then I will share a selection of my favs...

Oh yes, it is good. I tested it out, it pretty much makes every photograph look perfect.
I guess you can figure out what kind of style (photographically) I'm heading into. If anyone follows my tumblr you can see all my inspirations.
I also wore this outfit on New Years Eve, but should hopefully have photos from that at some point.

COMMENTS/CONCRIT PLEASE

2010 is proving to be pretty exciting already! Already have travel plans in the making for the next 5 months... Couple of weeks up North with family and work in Scotland, then spending 3 weeks in February in an Art Monastery in Umbria (Italy) doing voluntary work in exchange for accomodation (and hopefully getting lots of art made!). I should be in Essen and Hamburg for the Fetish Evolution and German Fetish Ball events too. The most exciting for me is going to be Hong Kong though - I've been booked for 2 days work there in March! Then I have 3 extra days for sightseeing afterwards. My flight has already been booked :D
Have also had a sudden influx of interest in My illustration work, which is perfectly timed as I'm having a wonderful creative burst at the moment - already half way through 4 new pieces started in the past 2 weeks. Which is pretty impressive for me, I usually manage about 1 a month if that. Could be something to do with the fact I've had most of December without any modelling work! Hmm!
Got the first pic back from Allan's Weave World inspired shoot (a Clive Barker book that I have somehow never read, soon to be corrected!). Kinda makes me think of Stargate and the Goa'ould too :D

After a mild panic thinking Torture Garden's NYE party was cancelled (full story at The Fetishistas here and here!), had an absolutely cracking time as everything went ahead as originally planned. 'Twas an incredibly jolly affair, surrounded by friends and copious amounts of rum & ginger beer. I love that mood that the whole of London radiates on NYE, even on the tube during the day everyone seemed to be excited and smiling.
I was on stage for the countdown to midnight, walking in the fashion show for Blacklickorish Latex. Totally loved my show outfit - really fancy pair of latex leggings designed by Mother of London (made by Blacklikorish) worn with my new 8.5 inch platform boots, a fabulous mohawk and not much else. Having already been in the club and enjoying the alcomahol for about 2 hours before the show started, I was a wee bit (actually a lot bit) inebriated and had a ridiculous desire to pour lube all over myself before going on stage. Thankfully it I managed to keep it on myself and not on my shoes or the floor. That would have been a disaster.
The show itself is a slightly blurred memory. There was a champagne explosion (champagne in eyes, it burns) and lots of confetti. After the confetti/balloon cascade cleared I had aquired various lipstick marks all over my chest and arms. I am sad I cannot quite recall how they got there! I do remember Allan putting me on his shoulders with much squealing on my part. I think the various photos I've found so far are quite a good summary of the ridiulousness that went on!

Left to right: Myself, Ruby, Maz, Fottiti Girl and Skin.
( more drunken tomfoolery... )
I feel my boobs were unintentionally a major feature in those pics. haha. I've never done a show topless before. I usually refuse to on account of they bounce way too much to be taken seriously whilst walking down a runway. But Alyssa is one of my favourite designers and I really wanted to wear those amazing leggings! (Did a shoot wearing them yesterday, pics soon! :D).
Have to say special thanks to the TG staff for a great night, and especially for all the effort that went into sorting out the problem when it looked like the venue was being closed!

So me and Megan are going to see Les Misérables in April in Edinburgh. We're four rows from the front. And I just found out today, that Enjolras is going to be played by...

JON ROBYNS!!!!!!
MY ULTIMATE WEST-END CRUSH!!
(I saw him as Rod/Princeton in Avenue Q - also, HOW adorable on Britan's Got Talent?! :D)
He even does the voiceover for those horrible Actimel adverts - see, now you know him!
However, good things can't always last. Not when I found out who is playing Marius:

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...
This is like when Adam Rickett played Mark in Rent.
Ahh well. You win some you lose some!

No resolutions this year. Not yet anyway, I haven't quite decided.

I spent today re-arranging my room. I love purging old stuff.
I changed my shelves around, so they now house things that make me happy - a bit like a museum display. That's what I was going for, anyway.
Babushkas, art made by Amber, postcards from Poitiers, Momiji doll, nail polishes, Marvin from The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and the plush unicorn I got for Christmas.
It's a work in process, anyway.

Happy New Year everybody.
To celebrate, this is a special post about the women who have inspired me in 2009 - more in 2010, please?!
10: Brian Molko (of Placebo)

Teehee, so not 'technically' a girl, but pretty damn close! I used to crush on Bri-Pie so much when I was about 12 to 14 years old. And I got to see Placebo for the second time in November, so the crushing started again – though he’s toned down his mentalist behaviour in recent years, probably due to fatherhood (FYI – Cody Molko: cutest baby EVER!!) Their sixth album, Battle For The Sun was released this year, and I didn’t really like it at all until I gave it a PROPER listen a few months before the gig, and decided it’s got some fricking brilliant songs on there – especially For What It’s Worth and Julien. Welcome back to my crush pile, Molko!
( ACTUAL women under the cut, I promise!... )
I'll be back in a few days, I have a LOT of blog posts planned!

GOOD THINGS:
+ 2010 is the year I graduate. Thank CHRIST.
+ I am more on the path that I will work for a year before I go in for my PGCE. Life skillz, plz?
+ I have LOADS of blog posts at http://messycarla.blogspot.com planned - including a Christmas haul, Body Shop haul, Sales haul, makeup collection and hair post. KEEP WATCHING!
+ I decided not to go to the house party in Sunderland for New Years as planned with Sam as they're all going to be pilled off their faces, and drugs are bad mmm'kay. Plus it's iced up and the metros are wankered. AND I saw the stash of party food mam got for tonight - the chubby girl that I am is excited.
+ Planning to watch Graham Norton's New Year's Special with Joan Rivers! WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?
+ Spent a day watching The Inbetweeners with my sister - I LOVE that show. Easily the best teen comedy/drama in years.
+ I can't stop staring at the shoes I got in the Dorothy Perkins sale - especially the swede purple ones with gold frilly bits. They're wonderful, but I'm going to be paranoid for rain every time I wear them. And also bumping into people as I'm spending too much time looking at my feet.
+ I'm writing this blog post standing up. Nice for a change.
+ Massive clearout tomorrow. I love having sessions of purging old possessions and making room for new. LOTS more new...
BAD THINGS:
-
curiouscupcakes is on LJ Spotlight. I HATE when communities I'm in get spotlighted.
- I've decided 2010 is the year I'm weaning myself away from LJ, anyway.
- Jools Holland's Hootananny looks SHIT this year. Breaking years of tradition. Not watching you this year, Jools.
- River Island sale parcel hasn't come yet. I WANT MY PINK TIER SKIRT I GOT FOR ONLY £15!!

I'm pretty fucking pissed off to be honest.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was shortlisted in the student category of the Professional Photographer of the Year competition. Got the magazine with the results:

I LOST TO A PHOTOGRAPH OF A SCREAMING BRAT?! It appears to have no technical ability whatsoever!!
Just to rub salt in the wound..

"...overall it was disappointing to not see the students take more risks with their subject matter"
Not to say that mine is the most risque photograph ever taken but I'd like to think I was taking more of a risk than photographing my neighbours' kid! Not to mention the phrase "...technical proficiency appropriate for a student photographer" is incredibly patronising.
I know I should be happy my photo was printed but I expected to lose to a GOOD image.
